There is a Full Moon on July 21st, 2024, occurring in the 29th degree of Capricorn. This is a continuation of the story that started with the last Full Moon on June 21st that occurred in the first degree of Capricorn. The occurrence of two consecutive Full Moons in the same sign is rare and gives us an interesting energy to work with. This is a period of major karmic endings and new beginnings as we close out the Capricorn Full Moon cycle and four aspecting planets make their way into new signs, allowing us to catch a glimpse of what’s to come and who we are becoming.
Full Moon in Capricorn
Like the last one, this Full Moon is also occurring on the Capricorn-Cancer axis, which could be bringing our attention to how we balance our work and goals with our home and family life. We may have come to terms with the responsibilities that we need to take and where we need to focus our energy and get things done. Saturn, the ruling planet of Capricorn, is currently transiting through Pisces, which has been shedding light on where we need to set boundaries, face reality, and deepen our spiritual practices, balancing dreams with responsibilities.
This Full Moon on July 21st is asking us to reflect on the things we’ve learned since the last Full Moon and since Saturn entered Pisces in early 2023, and review the progress we have made.
Opposing the Sun in Cancer
Full Moons always oppose the Sun, and this one in particular is opposing the Sun in Cancer the day right before it moves into Leo. For the past month, we have been focused on our inner worlds, reflecting on the things we need to feel whole, learning to trust our intuition, nurturing ourselves and others, and letting go of what no longer serves us. The upcoming Leo season shifts our attention to the external world and how we show up in it. This Full Moon allows us to take what we have learned during Cancer season and integrate it as we start showing up as the person we have been in the process of becoming, with confidence and ease.
Trining Uranus and Mars
The Full Moon in Capricorn is forming a harmonious trine to Uranus and Mars. Uranus is “The Great Awakener” and has been transiting Taurus, which provides the stability needed as we start unveiling our creative gifts and breaking free from old patterns, such as outdated routines or limiting beliefs about our capabilities. Mars will be starting a brand new cycle as it enters Gemini the day before this Full Moon. Moving from the fixed, grounded sign of Taurus, Mars is now entering adaptable, air territory where we get a chance to start exploring the things we have been curious about and opening our minds to other options we might not have previously considered. These energies complement this Full Moon by providing insight into our future path and where we want to go from here.
Sextiling Neptune
This Full Moon is also making a sextile with Neptune, adding another layer of completion to the energy of this period. Neptune currently sits at 29 degrees of Pisces, in retrograde motion, as it slowly makes its way into Aries next year. The spiritual planet of Neptune in its home sign of dreamy Pisces has provided us with the space to dive deep and explore the unknown parts of us that we need to clear out and heal. Neptune now at 29 degrees represents the end of a long spiritual journey, amplifying our sense of intuitive awareness at this time. We can use this newfound wisdom and insight to our advantage as we work with the energy of the Full Moon. Pay attention to your dreams and messages you are receiving from the universe.
Conjunct Pluto
The final and arguably the most powerful aspect to this Full Moon is its conjunction with Pluto. Pluto, the planet of deep psychological transformation, sitting with the emotional intensity of a Full Moon, is something that will be hard to ignore. Pluto is also known as the planet of death and rebirth and this conjunction could be showing us what we need to let go of in order to make space for what’s to come. It could be anything from fears to insecurities, outdated beliefs, or toxic friendships. What is your soul finally ready to release?
Pluto is right in between its departure from Capricorn and its entrance into Aquarius. Pluto’s exit from Capricorn is emphasized with the Full Moon also at the last degree of the same sign. We are wrapping up the karmic story of the past 20 years, and our souls are ready to graduate into the next phase of our life.
Take a look at where Pluto is in your chart, and use this Full Moon as an opportunity to reflect on what that story was, how it has shaped who you are today, and how it’s influencing your path forward.
Summary
Our future self is guiding us through this Full Moon and they are ready to be expressed to the world. We have learned to take responsibility for certain areas of our lives, including what we need to do in order to make our dreams a reality. Our intuition is strengthened and we can clearly sense what we are being called to release in order to make space for all of the new experiences, creative endeavors, and relationships we are welcoming in. The vision we have for our future is becoming clearer and we are equipped with the wisdom we have gained from the cycles we are closing out. There are parts of ourselves and things we were previously attached to that no longer align with the new energy of where we are heading. With this Full Moon, we are being welcomed to let them go, with grace, and with love.
