Introduction
There is an upcoming Full Moon in Aquarius on August 19th, 2024. This is no ordinary Full Moon, as it is part of a much larger story that is still unfolding at a collective level as well as in our personal lives. We have been in an era of transformation for the past couple of years as Pluto has slowly moved into Aquarius. It’s no coincidence that this Full Moon is occurring at the same time that Jupiter is squaring Saturn, which is also part of the story that started for us in December of 2020. While we may be faced with disruptions, limitations, and delays, this Full Moon in Aquarius encourages us to embrace the changes we are being called to make in the way we express ourselves, let go of the things that are holding us back, and strengthen our faith. We are ready to break free, ascend to the highest and truest version of ourselves, and do what we came here to do.
Key Aspects Overview
There is a Mercury Cazimi (while in retrograde), two T-Squares, Saturn is squaring Jupiter, Jupiter and Mars are conjunct in Gemini, there is a Yod involving Pluto and Neptune, and Lilith is opposing the North Node, which is conjunct Neptune. To be honest, I didn’t even know where to start with this post because there is just so much going on and the energy is crazy right now. I tried my best to break it down and find the best way to work with it instead of against it.
Full Moon in Aquarius
Aquarius is a sign associated with freedom, authenticity, societal progression, and humanitarianism. Similar to Leo, Aquarius is very expressive and creative, except it’s less self-centered and more focused on the greater good. This Full Moon might bring our attention to the things that make us unique and inspire us to break free from the status quo. It could also spark new, innovative ideas, drive us to fight for a cause, or find ways to give back to our community. This energy can be calling you to reflect on how you can contribute to society while staying true to yourself.
Sun Conjunct Mercury in Leo
Full Moons always oppose the Sun, and this time around the Sun is conjunct with Mercury, forming what is called a Cazimi, in the sign of Leo. Mercury has recently been retrograde in Virgo, intensifying our overthinking and possibly our anxiety. Mercury moving back into Leo on August 14th and making a conjunction with the Sun during the Full Moon will be a huge shift in our mental energy, bringing our attention back to our creative gifts, our inner child, and the way we express ourselves. We can look back to the last New Moon we had in Leo on August 4th, reflect on the intentions we set, and redirect our focus.
T-Square: Sun/Mercury and Moon Square Uranus in Taurus
Under this transit, we may experience breakthroughs, perhaps learning or realizing something we previously failed to notice relating to our transformation journey. Also, keep in mind that we may or may not notice unexpected delays or disruptions as we attempt to work with the energy of the Full Moon and strive to move forward with our projects and desires. We must maintain our composure and be mindful of how we react to unannounced events.
T-Square: Venus in Virgo Opposes Saturn in Pisces, Square Mars/Jupiter in Gemini
This influence drives us to seek pleasure and create beauty in a way that’s structured and organized. In our efforts to do this, we encounter limitations that feel unclear or even unfair, especially if they demand emotional sacrifice or spiritual growth.
There are so many things we want to do right now, and the cravings for our desires are strong, but we may face restrictions. As much as we want to take action right now, it might be best to take a step back and explore what is preventing us from moving forward. If it’s us, our fears, and old beliefs, then we can work on releasing them. If we are being halted by external forces, then we can work on accepting the situation as it is and trust that we are still being guided towards our highest path. Remember, Saturn is the Lord of Karma. Take his lessons seriously.
Yod: Pluto in Aquarius and Neptune in Pisces Pointing to Sun in Leo
A Yod is when two sextiling planets are inconjunct to a common planet. This aspect is often referred to as a “Finger of God,” mostly because of its fated and sometimes challenging nature. As with any challenging astrological aspect or situation in our lives, it holds the potential for profound spiritual growth and transformation.
In this case, Pluto in Aquarius is sextiling Neptune in Pisces, and they are pointing to the Sun in Leo. Pluto and Neptune are two of the most transformative planets in the zodiac. Pluto is known as the planet of death and rebirth, and Neptune is the planet of spirituality. Pluto is at zero degrees of Aquarius ( the sign of this Full Moon) and Neptune is at the last degree of Pisces. As they hang on the edges of these signs, this energy is screaming transformation. With these two planets inconjunct to the Sun in Leo, this transformation is directly related to embracing our authentic selves.
It almost feels like we aren’t just being encouraged to evolve the way we express ourselves, but we are now being forced to. This Yod aspect is indicating that it may be uncomfortable, but by letting go of our ego and old ways of thinking, we can learn to embrace a new way of being that aligns with our soul.
Lilith Opposing Neptune and North Node
Continuing with the theme of transformation, Lilith in Libra opposes the North Node in Aries, adding another layer of introspection to this Full Moon. We may feel tension between our needs (Aries) and the needs of others (Libra). We might also be asked to reflect on our relationships and identify whether or not they are supporting our growth.Maybe we are being called to cultivate deeper and more meaningful relationships. Observe your relationship dynamics around this Full Moon and note where adjustments might need to be made.
Conclusion
This Full Moon in Aquarius is about navigating the tension between our individuality and our collective responsibilities, with a strong emphasis on transformation and growth. The universe is continuing to guide us on a path that aligns with our soul’s purpose, but it’s up to us to do the work. We are being called to integrate new, authentic ways of expressing ourselves while balancing our needs with those of our relationships and the broader community. As we face disruptions or challenges that test our faith, this is an opportunity for us to strengthen our belief in God, or the Universe, and ourselves.
