Over the past few weeks, I have been contemplating my relationship to nature. I’ve swam in lakes, hiked in forests, and studied herbal medicine, learning to use our natural resources as an aid in spiritual healing. I’ve also found that by simply observing the natural cycles of life, we are reminded of our connection to this rhythm, understanding that we, just like the Earth, go through seasons. As the Sun enters the Earth sign of Virgo, we are invited to cultivate gratitude and recognize the abundance in the smallest details of our daily lives. This season encourages us to deepen our connection with the Earth, focus on our wellbeing, and explore ways to be of service and give back to our planet and our fellow inhabitants.
Connecting with the Earth
Living in a city and working from home contrasts sharply with how my ancestors lived, spending their days out on ranches and farms. I’ve been craving the sun on my skin and the wind in my hair, so I’ve been getting outside as much as possible lately. It’s not a coincidence that the weather around Virgo season is perfect for getting out in nature and observing the natural world. Not only is spending time in nature proven to calm the nervous system, but it also reminds us that we are only a small piece of the puzzle of life here on Earth.
We can also connect with the Earth by simply appreciating her abundance. The Earth provides us with everything we need: food to nourish, medicine to heal, and many other things that we can easily overlook in our busy modern lives. By incorporating gratitude into our lives, we also experience a shift in perspective and start to notice how much we have to be thankful for, bringing us a sense of peace. Earth is all around us, and therefore, so is abundance. As we deepen our connection with the Earth, we also find that Virgo’s energy supports us in cultivating personal growth.

Harnessing Virgo’s Energy for Personal Growth
Virgo’s mutable quality gives us the ability to make changes easily, making it a great time to start new routines and habits to better our health- physically, mentally, and spiritually.
We are supported in setting practical goals related to our health and wellness practices, especially when these goals are coming from a place of self-love. We can try new things like exercising, meditating once a day, or reading a new book once a week.
As always with Virgo, we should aim to avoid perfectionism. The goal is never to be perfect, but simply to make progress (which is not always linear). While we might feel drawn to picking apart the details of areas of our lives we feel the need to improve, remember to acknowledge the progress you have already made.
By striving to take care of ourselves mentally and spiritually, we inherently raise our vibration and start to embody love and light which we can then use to inspire and share with others.
Sharing the Harvest
Virgo is known as a sign of service. Virgo natives tend to be very helpful people and find joy in contributing wherever they can. As we bask in the energy of Virgo this season, finding abundance in nature and setting goals for positive self-growth, we can’t forget to share our love and gratitude with others. In a culture (in the West) that is mostly built on productivity and selfish gains, we as a society have lost the natural instinct to care for our communities and environment. I saw a video the other day of a mother teaching her toddler-aged sons the habit of asking “How can I be helpful?”. I think we can all adopt this lesson and regularly ask the people in our lives how we can be helpful and how we can support them.
I also think this applies to sharing our resources, knowledge, or really anything we have available to give. I have been seeking ways to give back to others, and I realized that I am doing this by writing here and sharing with all of you! I think sharing our talents and gifts with others can also be one of the greatest contributions to our community.
Whether we are volunteering at a non-profit, donating to food bank, supporting our friends and family, or sharing our knowledge, we can find comfort in contributing to the wellbeing of others.
Conclusion
As we enter another season ruled by the element of the Earth, take advantage of her grounding energy, adding stability to every area of our lives. Take time to immerse yourself in this energy by getting outside and feeling the Earth beneath your feet, supporting you through this ever-evolving journey of life. Set the groundwork to incorporate new habits and routines that will guide you on the path towards your highest self. Once we have created a strong foundation for ourselves, we can begin to support others, sharing the love and knowledge we have gained along the way.
Happy Virgo Season! ♡
