If you’ve ever struggled with anxiety, stress, or depression, you know what it’s like to long for peace. After years of therapy, yoga, and spiritual work, I learned that we have the ability to heal ourselves and control certain aspects of our environment to minimize our symptoms and live a more peaceful and grounded life. There’s no one-size-fits all approach when it comes to healing and while these practices aren’t a magic cure to all of our mental and emotional disturbances, they can help us get through some of our daily struggles. I go through phases with some of the practices and tools I use, but these ten things have been pillars in my current holistic self-care and healing journey to help me maintain a (mostly) stress-free life

Yoga for Anxiety & Stress Relief: Mindful Movement & Breathwork

Yoga is so much more than just physical exercise. The word “yoga” literally means “union”—to bring together the mind, body, and spirit (or breath). It’s not a coincidence that most of us feel extremely relaxed after doing yoga, as it’s scientifically proven to induce relaxation. It’s believed that we store emotions in our bodies, and our muscles tense up when we are stressed. The more this continues to happen without moving it out of our bodies, the stiffer and more stressed we become.
Yoga also includes meditation and breathing exercises, or pranayama, which has also been shown to calm the mind. I’ve been practicing yoga and breathwork for inner peace and clarity for the past five years, and it’s become an important part of my healing path.
Herbal Teas for Calming & Spiritual Grounding: Natural Anxiety Relief

I’m a big proponent of natural medicine, and I come from an ancestral bloodline with a deep understanding of the healing power of plants. I have been on a journey of learning about the things my ancestors used to heal themselves, and drinking herbal tea is one of the main methods they used to treat illness and discomfort. Chamomile is one of the best herbal teas for relieving anxiety and spiritual grounding. The Honey Lavender Stress Relief blend by Yogi Tea is a personal favorite!
Salt Baths for Energetic Cleansing & Purification: Release Negative Energy

Salt has been known to have healing and cleansing properties for thousands of years across various cultures and spiritual traditions. It’s believed that salt has the ability to absorb negative energy and protect us from spiritual harm. Sometimes when I’m feeling “off” or energetically imbalanced, I like to take a salt bath and visualize the salt extracting the negative energy out of my body. Even outside of the metaphysical interpretation and practice, everyone knows how relaxing baths can be!
Himalayan Salt Lamps: Creating a Relaxing & Grounding Home Environment

Speaking of salt, I’ve been using Himalayan salt lamps in my house for over five years. There’s something so relaxing about the gentle, low reddish-pink light in the corner of my room. Those of us who are prone to stress can benefit from anything that promotes relaxation, and salt lamps are no exception. Not only is the glow of the lamp pleasing to the eye, but having a natural, rock-like substance in your space is incredibly grounding. Creating a peaceful, spa-like aesthetic in your home is a great step towards living a more balanced and holistic life.
Transformative Spiritual Books: Guides for Healing & Personal Growth

Spiritual education is an important part of any spiritual journey. We live in a digital age where information is abundant, but it can be overwhelming at times. YouTube, TikTok, and even blogs are great resources for learning about spirituality, but there’s something vibrationally different about reading a book. Most of them are written by subject matter experts in their chosen field, and the time and effort put into their work is energetically obvious.
One of my favorite things to do is let the universe guide me to the books I need to read at that moment. Sometimes I’ll go to the bookstore with no plan and see what calls to me. Usually, whatever topic my chosen book covers is exactly what I needed to learn to get me through whatever I was moving through in my life. I seriously need to write a post about must-read spiritual books for healing and transformation because I am so passionate about them.
Journaling for Mental Clarity: Relieve Anxiety & Overthinking

I’ve been journaling probably since I was able to write. One of the reasons I started journaling so young is because I was an extremely introverted child. I’ve always been emotionally sensitive and had the urge to get my feelings out on paper. So many people today struggle with anxiety and overthinking, and studies have shown that journaling can help to release pent-up emotions and improve our mental and emotional well-being. Even if you journal once a week, or only when you’re having a tough time, it can be extremely helpful.
Sound Healing & Solfeggio Frequencies: Calm Your Mind with Vibrational Therapy

Studies have shown that sound baths can help to enhance our mood, improve sleep, reduce stress, and improve overall well-being. Various frequencies are known to have different effects on our brain waves and have the ability to alter states of consciousness. I have had the pleasure of experiencing multiple sound baths at local yoga studios, and each one had a unique way of calming my mind, body, and spirit.
While sound baths are great, you don’t actually need to go to one to experience the benefits of sound healing. I’ve gotten into the habit of listening to solfeggio frequencies on Spotify, which also have a similar calming effect. You can also find healing sound frequencies on YouTube! The key is simply in the vibration.
Adaptogens for Stress & Energy: Natural Support for Mental Well-being

As I’ve said before, I am a big fan of plant medicine, which includes adaptogens for improving mental and emotional well-being. Adaptogens are natural substances derived from plants, like ashwagandha, ginseng, and rhodiola, and functional mushrooms like reishi, chaga, and lion’s mane. Those of us who are prone to depression and anxiety know what it’s like to feel drained, tired, and stressed, and this is where substances like ashwagandha can be extremely helpful.
Adaptogens come in powder form, capsules, oil tinctures, even some tea and coffee blends. I personally love drinking my adaptogens since I can easily incorporate it into my daily routine. My favorites drinkable adaptogens are Four Sigmatic Focus Coffee with chaga and lion’s mane and I’ve been really into Yogi Tea’s elderberry lemon balm tea with ashwagandha recently. Always consult with a doctor before consuming any adaptogens!
Spring Water Benefits: Energetic & Healing Properties

This one is random, so hear me out! I saw a video once that explained the energetic difference of consuming water straight from a spring compared to water which comes from other, sometimes unknown, sources. If you’ve ever been hiking or near a natural spring, you might be familiar with the feeling of peace and grounding you experience while being in that environment. Now, entertain a metaphysical perspective for a moment and consider the energetic properties spring water contains that tap water doesn’t. Not only does it taste better, but it feels better—in my opinion.
Obviously, we don’t all have access to natural springs and this isn’t even remotely practical. I also realize having access to clean water in general is an immense privilege, so I really just look at drinking fresh spring water as a luxury. If it’s available to you, I recommend trying Mountain Valley Spring Water. It comes in glass bottles, free from the potential hormone disrupting chemicals found in plastic water bottles. Although it is pricey compared to your every day water, it’s helpful to consider that many of us spend money on things like fancy candles, expensive makeup, and other things we don’t need- so treat yourself when you can, and invest in your health.
This has been an interesting discovery in my healing journey, and I’ve incorporated spring water into my personal energy medicine must-haves.
Homa Taila: Ayurvedic Essential Oil for Grounding

One day in yoga class, my teacher K offered to share some essential oil with us prior to entering savasana. I was expecting lavender or some other oil commonly used in yoga practice, but I was pleasantly surprised to receive a unique oil blend I’d never experienced before. It was Homa Taila, an Ayurvedic vaporizer oil from India. It combines a list of 17 different natural herbal ingredients to create a scent that is incredibly grounding. One spray of this instantly grounds my spirit and immediately calms my mind and nervous system. This oil also has various other uses listed on the website. Even if you can’t get your hands on this specific oil, essential oils are an amazing tool to have in your self-care toolkit.
Final Thoughts
I hope this list of holistic healing essentials inspires you to incorporate some of these practices into your daily life! There are so many different healthy ways we can make our lives less stressful, more grounded, and spiritually connected. If you have any other tools or practices that have personally helped you, please leave a comment! Healing is a collective effort and the more we share, the more we grow.
